A private Christian university in Pennsylvania has secured over 33 acres of land from the Valley Forge Military Academy & College (VFMAC). This agreement gives Eastern University, located about a mile from VFMAC, access to a new football stadium, track, and athletic facilities that they have been leasing since 2021.
The deal also includes several apartment buildings, helping to accommodate Eastern’s growing student body. An Eastern University representative noted, “Our community is expanding quickly, and we needed more space.” They expressed gratitude for the ongoing relationship with VFMAC, which has been beneficial for both institutions.
Michael Blymier, a spokesperson for VFMAC, emphasized that this agreement works well for both parties. He mentioned that Eastern needed a permanent solution for its athletic programs, while VFMAC had limited long-term use for these facilities. “The timing makes sense for both institutions,” he explained, adding that VFMAC will still use the space for their cadets’ training.
However, the deal won’t be finalized just yet. It’s waiting on various approvals and is expected to take about five months to complete. The specific terms of the agreement remain confidential until this process wraps up. Eastern will allow VFMAC access to certain facilities, reflecting their cooperative relationship.
This agreement comes during a period of significant change for VFMAC, which announced that the upcoming 2025-26 school year will be its last. Rising costs for a boarding school education and increased liability from changes in Pennsylvania law have made it difficult for the Academy to continue. The separate Valley Forge Military College will not be affected by this closure, as it operates independently.
