The Penticton Vees are officially the champions of the BCHL regular season! They secured their title with a solid 5-2 victory over the Cranbrook Bucks on March 28 at the South Okanagan Events Centre. This win not only wrapped up the Ron Boileau Memorial Trophy for the Vees but also gives them home-ice advantage as they head into the playoffs.

Eli McKamey, a standout rookie at just 16 years old, netted two goals in the game. Luke Posthumus contributed three points, while Matthew Biotti added two assists to the score. With this win, the Vees finished the regular season with a remarkable record of 41 wins, 7 losses, and 5 overtime losses, marking their 13th consecutive Interior Conference pennant. Will Ingemann made 19 saves in goal to secure the win, while Ethan Buenaventura stepped in and stopped 4 shots in a brief appearance. Despite Cranbrook’s early goal just 36 seconds into the game, the Vees responded quickly. Posthumus scored two minutes later, marking his 25th goal of the season. Max Heise also shined, scoring his 27th goal, giving Penticton a 2-1 lead.

Cranbrook showed some fight by evening the score at 2-2 with a power-play goal in the second period. However, the Vees dominated thereafter, netting three unanswered goals. Ben Merrill, a draft pick for the Montreal Canadiens, capped off the night with the final goal.

Ryden Evers has also been on fire, adding to his tally with ten points over his last three games.
