Head Coach Tyler LaTorre praised his team, especially pitcher Casey Euper. Euper had another solid outing, marking his sixth straight quality start by pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs. In the fifth, the Waves took the lead after Danny Cook drew a walk, and Woodworth’s powerful hit brought two runs in. LaTorre remarked that on a good day, that ball would have been a homerun, but it still provided a crucial two-RBI knock.
The competition remained tough as Portland tied the game in the sixth. Just when it looked like the game might slip away, the Waves responded with two more runs in the seventh, led again by Dunn, securing their victory.
Dylan Stewart and Lucien Wechsberg were standout performers in relief. Their solid pitching shut down the Pilots and sealed the win for Pepperdine.
As of now, Pepperdine is tied for second in the WCC with San Francisco. The team’s commitment to teamwork and timely hitting was evident. Woodworth extended his hitting streak to 12 games, while several players contributed with multiple hits.
