Malibu, Calif. – The Pepperdine baseball team faced a tough loss on Sunday, falling 2-0 to the San Francisco Dons. This defeat wrapped up their series against the Dons, with a record of 18 wins and 28 losses this season.
Pitcher Collin Valentine shone during the game, throwing 6.2 innings with just one earned run. He gave up six hits, walked two players, and struck out three. The only real setback for him came in the third inning when Jared Lewis’ single drove in Jayden Garrison.
In the ninth inning, Tyler Harries secured an insurance run for the Dons with an RBI single that scored Trevor Harmon. This extra run proved vital, as the Waves struggled to generate offense.
Pepperdine recorded only six hits, and their best chance to score came in the sixth inning. After a walk by Daniel Patterson, he was picked off at second base. Although Joshua Woodworth and Trey Dunn hit well following that, Kai Laxa ended the inning without any runs.
Overall, the Waves’ pitching staff, including Valentine along with Casey Euper and Tommy Scavone, posted an impressive 1.31 ERA through the series, allowing only three earned runs over 20.2 innings.
