ELON – The Elon University men’s tennis team kicked off its fall season at the Elon Invitational held at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Freshman Sibby Rodi shone in his debut, scoring two notable wins. He triumphed in the C Singles draw with tiebreak victories over Gabriel Johnson from South Carolina State. Rodi also teamed up with fellow freshman Nick Fisk to secure a doubles win in the C Doubles flight.
Alonso Roca joined Rodi in the singles victories, defeating UNCG’s Hector Hertz Nissen 7-5, 7-5 in the D flight. Additionally, Oskar Antinheimo and Veljko Krstic clinched a doubles win for the Phoenix, showcasing their teamwork in the A draw.
The competition continues Saturday with two rounds of singles starting at 9 a.m.
