Oscar Piastri had a fantastic comeback at the Belgian Grand Prix after a tough Sprint race. The young Australian was excited about his thrilling overtaking move on his teammate, Lando Norris, during the first lap, which helped him seize the lead.

Earlier that weekend, Piastri started in pole position for the Sprint but ended up losing the victory to Max Verstappen. Then, during Qualifying, he lost the top spot to Norris again. However, Piastri was determined to turn things around on race day.

The race start was delayed due to wet conditions, but once the action kicked off, Piastri made an impressive run through Eau Rouge, outpacing Norris. “Lap 1 felt lively,” he said, admitting he knew it was his best chance to win. He managed a strong exit from Turn 1 and maintained control throughout most of the race, despite struggling with tire performance near the end.

Piastri expressed initial concern over the pace of the rolling start, thinking it might lessen his chances. Yet, when he got close to Norris, he took the risk and pushed a bit harder, making the overtake stick.

The tire strategy also played a role in their competition. While Piastri opted for medium tires, Norris chose hard. Piastri felt the medium was the safer gamble, especially considering possible crashes or Safety Car situations.

Looking ahead, Piastri is gearing up for the Hungarian Grand Prix. This is particularly special for him as it’s where he scored his first win last year. He’s eager to continue building on his momentum, especially given his strong performance in Belgium.
