RUSSELL – Pine Grove PPT & 2-Gun donated $3,600 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania. This generous act will help support local families struggling with food insecurity.
The funds came from a holiday charity raffle and pistol shoot held on December 20. The event was lively, featuring gun and basket raffles, along with a 50/50 drawing. Over 100 people came together, each making a $25 contribution, which included food, drinks, and desserts.
Thanks to this donation, Second Harvest can provide more than 9,000 meals to families in need in the region. Kyle Whitten, an instructor with Pine Grove PPT & 2-Gun, shared why they chose Second Harvest. “They cover Warren County and other local areas we aim to serve,” he said. “Helping people is our focus, and we found a way to make a difference.”
Whitten expressed excitement about the community’s response and support. This was the first year for their charity event, and plans are already in motion for the next one scheduled for October.
Community Impact and Future Plans
Food insecurity is a pressing issue. According to the USDA, over 10% of households in the U.S. faced food insecurity in 2021. Initiatives like this are vital in combating that problem locally. Organizations like Second Harvest play a crucial role in providing not just food, but hope for many families.
Pine Grove PPT & 2-Gun aims to build on this success. They hope to make their charity event a yearly tradition, rallying the community to contribute to a common cause.
