The Pittsburgh Penguins have made an exciting move by signing goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to a professional tryout contract. This was announced by Kyle Dubas, the team’s President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.
Fleury, at 40, is set to practice with the Penguins at noon on September 26. He’ll also play parts of an exhibition game against Columbus on September 27 at PPG Paints Arena.

Fleury is known for his impressive career, having won three Stanley Cups with the Penguins in 2009, 2016, and 2017. He has played 22 seasons in the NHL, contributing to teams like Vegas, Chicago, and Minnesota. His stats are striking: over 1,000 regular-season games, he has achieved a record of 575 wins, 339 losses, and 97 ties, with 76 shutouts. Only Martin Brodeur has more wins and games played among NHL goaltenders.
His accolades include four NHL All-Star selections and the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender in the league. Fleury holds numerous records for the Penguins, such as the most games played and victories in the franchise’s history.
Interestingly, Fleury was the first overall pick in the 2003 NHL Draft, joining an elite group of goaltenders who were drafted first.
