The H-E-B Foundation evaluates school districts on their academic performance, understanding of community needs, and innovative solutions to address those needs. They seek evidence of how well a district supports its students and engages with the community.

Superintendent Theresa Williams expressed pride in this achievement. “This nomination shows the dedication of our school board, educators, and the entire community,” she said. “Their hard work creates meaningful opportunities for every student, truly bringing our mission to life.”

As a finalist, Plano ISD will receive $5,000. They join other finalists including Clear Creek ISD, Gregory-Portland ISD, Lamar CISD, and New Braunfels ISD. Each school board will present to a panel of judges before the winner is selected.

The winning board will be announced on May 4 at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony at the Hilton Austin, along with the chance to earn up to $25,000.

Last year, Plano ISD’s Christina Ferenschuetz, a teacher at Shepard Elementary, was a finalist for the Leadership award, but lost to Kaneice Washington from Galena Park Elementary in Houston.
