New Delhi, December 24, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the successful launch of the LVM3-M6 rocket, which placed the BlueBird Block-2 satellite into orbit. He called this mission a big step forward for India’s space program.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed pride in this achievement, stating that it’s the heaviest satellite launched from India. The mission not only strengthens India’s capabilities but also emphasizes the goal of making India self-reliant in space, known as “Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
PM Modi highlighted the success as a reflection of India’s growing role in the global satellite launch market. He commended the dedication of ISRO’s scientists and engineers, noting how their efforts are paving the way for future missions, including Gaganyaan, which aims to send Indian astronauts into space.
The launch occurred at the Satish Dhawan Space Station in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 8:55 AM IST. The BlueBird Block-2 satellite, developed by the United States’ AST SpaceMobile, will provide high-speed cellular broadband directly to smartphones worldwide.
According to recent reports, the global satellite launch market is expected to grow substantially. A study by Euroconsult found that the satellite launch industry could reach $44 billion by 2029, reflecting an increasing demand for satellite communication services. India’s successful missions position it as a key player in this expanding market.
