In his latest monthly address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited people to participate in the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, happening in Varanasi on December 2. He emphasized that events like this foster unity under the slogan “Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat,” meaning One India, Great India.

Modi’s 128th episode of Mann ki Baat highlighted notable events from November, including the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram,” the hoisting of the Dharmadhwaja at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, and a record food grain production of 357 million tonnes.

He also commented on significant achievements like the inauguration of the world’s largest LEAP engine maintenance facility in Hyderabad and the induction of INS Mahe into the Indian Navy.

About the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, Modi noted its theme of “Tamil Karkalam,” or Learn Tamil. He described how exciting it is to merge the rich Tamil culture with one of the world’s oldest cities. He encouraged everyone to embrace new learning and connect with each other during this event. He spoke a few lines in Tamil, celebrating its importance in Indian culture.

During his talk, Modi revisited his “vocal for local” initiative. He shared how he presented gifts from local artisans to global leaders at the recent G-20 summit in South Africa. He urged citizens to shop local as we approach the festive season, reminding them that supporting local goods boosts the economy.

On a recent trip to Bhutan, he received gratitude for the donation of Buddhist relics, highlighting similar efforts in countries like Russia and Thailand. Modi expressed joy at seeing the global appreciation for Indian culture.

He celebrated November as a successful month for Indian sports, lauding wins by the women’s cricket team and the achievements at the Deaflympics.

Additionally, Modi noted India’s rising potential for winter tourism. Places like Auli and Munsyari are becoming popular spots for travelers and winter weddings.

In these conversations, one thing stands out: the importance of community and cultural exchange. Events like the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam not only enrich our lives but also strengthen our national identity.
