PM Modi Celebrates Indian Students’ Global Olympiad Triumphs in Chemistry and Maths

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently celebrated the achievements of four incredible Indian students: Devesh Pankaj, Sandeep Kuchi, Debdatt Priyadarshi, and Ujjwal Kesari. These young talents earned international science medals, shining a spotlight on India’s growing reputation in the global arena.

Devesh and Sandeep snagged gold medals at the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2025 held in Dubai from July 5 to 14. Meanwhile, Debdatt and Ujjwal also claimed medals, showcasing India’s strength in science on the world stage.

Their achievements represent years of hard work, rigorous training, and support from organizations like the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). They demonstrate India’s ongoing success in global STEM Olympiads, which has become a source of national pride.

During a recent episode of his radio program “Mann Ki Baat,” Modi highlighted these victories and linked them to India’s success in mathematics, where the country secured three golds, two silvers, and a bronze at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025 in Australia. This further illustrates India’s growing influence in STEM fields.

The Prime Minister pointed out that these wins encourage future generations. He shared exciting news about India hosting the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Mumbai, with participation from 60 countries. This event marks a significant milestone for India’s scientific community.

Teachers and politicians are being called upon to create environments that nurture scientific talent. These young achievers serve as role models, showcasing that excellence in science and math is attainable, and is part of India’s educational culture.

In his remarks, Modi also referenced Shubhanshu Shukla’s return from space, a moment that filled the nation with pride. Shubhanshu’s safe landing sparked joy across the country, inspiring many young people to dream big. As Modi noted, today’s children boldly state, “We will go to space; we will land on the moon.”

This collective spirit of achievement and aspiration illustrates how India is not just participating in global science but is also shaping its future in this vital field. It’s a reminder that with support and effort, our youth can reach extraordinary heights.
