In his address off the coast of Goa, Modi mentioned that over 40 warships and submarines, all made in India, have joined the Navy since 2014. The Prime Minister’s stay on the carrier was filled with festive spirit, as patriotic songs echoed through the air. He spoke to sailors, celebrating their valor, and sent Diwali greetings to the nation, fostering unity and pride in India’s naval capabilities.
INS Vikrant itself is a marvel of engineering, weighing 45,000 tonnes and equipped with advanced radar systems and a unique ski-jump deck. It symbolizes India’s efforts to strengthen its maritime presence, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Recent data shows that India’s defense exports reached a record high of $1.5 billion in 2021-2022, reflecting the success of homegrown technologies. The changing geopolitical landscape emphasizes the need for robust naval forces.
