PM Modi Honors Farmers This Independence Day: Celebrating the Backbone of Bharat

On the 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s farmers, calling them the backbone of the country. He painted a vivid picture of how colonial rule left India struggling, but it was the relentless work of farmers that filled the nation’s granaries and secured food independence. In an effort to elevate the most disadvantaged farming districts, he unveiled the PM Dhanya Dhanya Krishi Yojana.

The Prime Minister also took a firm stance on the Indus Water Treaty, deeming it unfair to Indian farmers. He declared that India will no longer accept arrangements that don’t serve its interests, vowing to reclaim water rights for its agricultural needs.

Ensuring food security is crucial, and PM Modi stressed the importance of producing fertilizers and farming inputs domestically. This, he argued, would empower farmers and build economic independence.

He shared that various initiatives, like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, have already boosted farmer confidence. These programs, which include irrigation projects and seed distribution, are helping small farmers and fishermen thrive.

In closing, PM Modi assured farmers by stating, “For the welfare of the farmers, livestock owners, and fishermen, I will stand as a protective wall. India will not compromise on farmers’ interests.”

Today, farmers face new hurdles like climate change and fluctuating market prices. According to recent surveys, 62% of farmers express optimism due to government initiatives, signaling a shift toward potential growth.
