Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched four new Vande Bharat trains in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This includes the Varanasi–Khajuraho Express, along with trains to Delhi, Firozpur, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Ernakulam, and Bengaluru.
Speaking in Bhojpuri, Modi greeted the local community, emphasizing Kashi’s role in India’s development. He noted that strong infrastructure is key to a nation’s progress and highlighted India’s rapid advancements in expanding its rail and road networks.
Now, more than 160 Vande Bharat trains are in service across the country. Modi stated that these trains are symbols of India’s engineering prowess and self-reliance. He emphasized that Vande Bharat trains represent a commitment to modernization in Indian Railways.
Modi also pointed out that important pilgrimage sites, like Ayodhya and Haridwar, are becoming more accessible thanks to the Vande Bharat network. He shared that tourism and pilgrimage have seen significant growth in Uttar Pradesh over the last 11 years. Last year, 110 million people visited Baba Vishwanath, and more than 60 million have visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya since its construction. This influx has boosted the state’s economy, creating numerous jobs.
Health services in Kashi are also improving. Modi noted that the city has become a healthcare hub for eastern Uttar Pradesh, with modern hospitals now available, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment.
He praised the creativity of local children, who showcased poems and drawings during the train launch event, expressing pride in their talent and announcing plans for a poetry conference in Kashi.
Modi concluded by stating that Varanasi will continue to be a pivotal player in India’s development journey and emphasized the importance of sustaining the city’s growth and energy.
