Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently highlighted his vision for a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India by 2047. He spoke at the launch of new metro projects in Bengaluru, emphasizing the government’s commitment to transforming India into a developed nation through reforms and innovations.
In 2014, India was seen as one of the world’s fragile economies. Fast forward to today, and we are the fifth-largest economy globally. The metro rail system has expanded significantly, growing from just five cities to 24, making India the third-largest metro network in the world.
During his visit, Modi inaugurated metro projects worth approximately 22,800 crore rupees and flagged off new Vande Bharat train services. These trains are designed for a comfortable travel experience and aim to enhance connectivity. Vande Bharat trains are now operational on several key routes, including Bengaluru to Belagavi, and will also run between Amritsar and Katra, as well as Nagpur and Pune.
In Nagpur, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed gratitude for the new Vande Bharat train service, particularly on the busy Nagpur-Pune route. He noted that many travelers often relied on expensive private transportation due to a lack of efficient public options. The launch of this service addresses that need, as it offers a faster and more cost-effective travel choice.
Modi also reflected on India’s military strength during his speech, particularly noting the success of Operation Sindoor, which showcased advanced capabilities in counter-terrorism. He attributed this success to technological advancements and initiatives like Make in India, particularly in the defense sector.
This development highlights India’s growth not just economically but also in terms of infrastructure and security.
