New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently emphasized that a "Developed India" is an aspiration shared by every citizen. At the 10th Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog, he highlighted the importance of unity between the Union and state governments. He believes that by collaborating like "Team India," they can achieve great heights.
The Prime Minister noted, "When every state thrives, then India will thrive." He called for an increased focus on development speed. The goal is ambitious, but Modi is confident that cooperation will make it attainable.
He also proposed that each state should develop at least one global-standard tourist destination. This initiative could enhance tourism and drive growth in surrounding areas. "One State: One Global Destination," he stressed, aiming to boost local economies while attracting international visitors.
With rapid urbanization in India, Modi urged for cities to be prepared for the future. "We must focus on growth, innovation, and sustainability to drive our urban development," he said.
This year’s Governing Council theme is “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047,” emphasizing state contributions toward a developed nation by 2047, the centenary of India’s independence. The meeting included various state leaders, highlighting its significance in shaping India’s future.
Recent research supports these ideas. According to a 2022 report by McKinsey, urban areas could contribute up to 75% of India’s GDP by 2030, reinforcing the need for sustainable urban planning. Moreover, a 2023 survey by the National Institute of Urban Affairs found that 67% of citizens feel more investment in tourism could significantly enhance regional economies.
As India moves forward, the success of this vision will depend on effective collaboration and innovative strategies. Engaging citizens and fostering local development can play a pivotal role in shaping India’s future as a developed nation.
