Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed a rally in Napla village, Banswara, Rajasthan. He encouraged people to support local products as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India) initiative. According to Modi, every rupee spent on Indian-made goods helps artisans, farmers, and workers.
He asked shopkeepers to proudly display signs reading “This is Swadeshi,” urging everyone to choose Indian-made products for their purchases. This call to action aims to enhance local economies rather than foreign ones.
During his speech, Modi contrasted the current government’s policies with past practices. He criticized the Congress party for high inflation and taxes before 2014. He shared relatable examples of how GST reforms have lowered prices. For instance, the tax on a ₹500 shoe has dropped by ₹50, making it more affordable for families.
He emphasized the importance of support for local artisans. “When you buy swadeshi, money builds schools and hospitals,” he stated.
Modi also highlighted progress in rural electrification, critiquing Congress for neglecting electricity access for many households. He spoke about current energy projects worth ₹90,000 crore aimed at improving energy security across multiple states.
Paying tribute to Rajasthan’s tribal heritage, Modi mentioned the newly established Ministry for Tribal Welfare, drawing attention to the empowerment of tribal communities. He celebrated the appointment of Droupadi Murmu as India’s President, marking a significant step for tribal representation in the government.
At this rally, he laid the foundation stone for the 2,800 MW Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project, worth ₹42,000 crore. He also inaugurated several projects focused on water, clean energy, and health, prioritizing development across the nation.
As Modi concluded, he reinforced his message about savings and the positive changes brought by the current government, framing the discussion around celebrating ‘GST Savings Festival.’ This sentiment resonates with many citizens experiencing relief in their daily expenses due to reduced taxes.
In a recent survey by the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, about 42% of consumers expressed a preference for buying swadeshi products, highlighting the growing trend toward supporting local industries. This reflects a broader awareness of the impact of these purchasing choices on the national economy.
In essence, supporting local products not only boosts individual households but also strengthens the country as a whole.
