An arrest warrant has been issued for actor Tyrese Gibson after a troubling incident involving his dogs. According to a report from CBS News, Gibson’s dogs were involved in the death of a neighbor’s pet.
On September 18, police received a call from a Buckhead resident. The complaint was about Gibson’s four Cane Corso dogs that had reportedly attacked a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. The neighbor, Harrison Parker, discovered his dog dead shortly after letting it outside.
Security footage showed Gibson’s dogs at a door across the street moments before the attack. Another neighbor later called 911, reporting Gibson’s dogs were blocking her car, making it impossible for her to leave.
Captain Nicole Dwyer of the Fulton County Police stated that Gibson had received multiple warnings about his dogs running loose. These incidents happened five times in the week before the attack.
Gibson, 46, initially promised to surrender his dogs to Animal Services on September 22. However, when officers arrived, he asked for a few more days to think it over. The police then secured a search warrant for his home and an arrest warrant for animal cruelty. When they arrived later that evening, both Gibson and his dogs were missing.
Gibson’s legal team expressed condolences for the neighbor’s loss, claiming he was away at the time of the incident. They noted that Gibson had intended to rehome his dogs to a safer environment and assured his cooperation with authorities.
This situation draws attention to issues around pet ownership responsibilities. According to a recent survey from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), around 25% of pet owners have reported issues with their pets’ behavior, including aggression.
