Riverside, California – It was a tough day for the Portland Pilots as they lost to the California Baptist Lancers, 18-4. This game concluded the series with the Lancers taking the win.
Brady Bean shone for the Pilots, racking up three hits, including a home run, and driving in three runs. Freshman Trey Swygart started as a pitcher for Portland but unfortunately took the loss. He was one of five pitchers used during the game, with three of them making their pitching debuts.
Joans Salk also contributed, going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Tyler Howard helped the team, contributing two hits in four at-bats along with a walk.
How it Happened
The Pilots started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. Bean’s home run, which brought in Cody Nitowitz, got the scoring going. However, the Lancers responded with a powerful rally, scoring 13 runs between the third and fourth innings, bringing the score to 13-2. Portland managed to score twice in the seventh inning, highlighted by another run-scoring single from Bean, but the Lancers added more runs to seal the victory.
