GENEVA, Oh. – Howard University’s women’s swimming and diving team is making waves at the Northeast Conference Championships. After day three, they hold the second place with a score of 489.5 points, trailing behind Central Connecticut State by just 61 points.
The day began strong for Howard with Chanice Posada from Houston, Texas, who crushed her personal best in the 100-yard Butterfly. She finished with a time of 54.04, a remarkable improvement from her previous best of 55.96.
In the women’s 200 Free, Zuilda Nwaeze from Columbia, Maryland, excelled with a season-best time of 1:48.83, surpassing her competitors by more than two seconds.
Senior Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson, hailing from Nassau, Bahamas, won silver in the 100 Breasts with a personal record of 1:02.30. Later, Posada continued her winning streak by securing first place in the 100 Back with a time of 54.15. Myeisha Sharrieff from Bermuda tied for silver in the same event, clocking in at 56.17.
Howard’s A relay team, featuring Posada, Nwaeze, Thompson, and Kelsey Roberson from West Orange, NJ, ended the night on a high note by breaking the program record in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. They completed the race in 3:43.30.
