Timeline
Snow will start this afternoon and continue through Sunday evening. The heaviest snowfall is predicted for Sunday, making travel particularly dangerous.
Additional Details
A strong low-pressure system is responsible for this storm. Initial snowfall tonight may reach up to 10 cm. Conditions may ease slightly this evening, but freezing drizzle is possible in some areas.
By Sunday morning, expect poor conditions as heavier snow moves in, with an additional 15 to 25 cm expected. Travel is not recommended, especially on Sunday, due to the hazardous conditions.
Driving could become very difficult as snow piles up. Visibility may drop to almost zero during heavy snow bursts. It’s a good idea to postpone any non-essential travel until the weather improves.
Public Safety Canada advises everyone to prepare an emergency kit including essentials like water, food, medications, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight. For more details on preparing an emergency plan, check out Get Prepared.
