Local snowfall could reach up to 35 cm, lasting until Monday, with a chance of more snow returning on Tuesday.
Weather Alert from Environment Canada:
A snow squall watch has been issued for:
- Barrie – Orillia – Midland, Ontario
- Owen Sound – Blue Mountains – Northern Grey County, Ontario
Current Information:
Snow squalls are expected to start on Sunday.
What to Expect:
You may see total snowfall of 15 to 35 cm, with heavy snow falling at rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour. Visibility could drop to near zero due to blowing snow.
Timing:
The snow will likely occur from late Sunday morning through Monday.
Additional Notes:
Cool air moving over Lake Huron and Georgian Bay is expected to bring lake effect snow squalls. While the timing of when these squalls will ease isn’t certain, there is a chance they could return on Tuesday.
Snow squalls can create rapidly changing conditions. You could go from clear skies to heavy snow in just a few kilometers. Travel may become hazardous because of these sudden changes, and roads can be hard to navigate as snow accumulates.
If possible, it’s best to avoid non-essential travel until the weather improves.
