Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a weather warning for southern, central, and eastern Quebec, as a new storm is expected to strike from Sunday into Monday.

The forecast predicts that snowfall amounts could reach between 15 to 30 cm, with strong winds creating blowing snow conditions. This is due to a new low-pressure system moving toward Quebec that will intensify throughout the weekend. Snow is expected to begin on Sunday morning in the southern regions before spreading to other areas later in the day.

Officials warn that this additional snowfall will increase the load on roofs, posing potential hazards. On the roads, rapidly accumulating snow may make travel difficult. Authorities urge drivers to be mindful of changing conditions, as visibility can quickly decrease due to snow and blowing snow.

Global News meteorologist Anthony Farnell advised against travel on Sunday unless absolutely necessary. He emphasized that this could be a day when staying home is wise given the predicted near-blizzard conditions.

This week’s snowstorm already caused substantial disruptions, impacting commutes and travel plans, and forcing school closures in parts of Quebec, Ontario, and the Atlantic provinces. Many flights at Montreal-Trudeau Airport faced delays and cancellations, so travelers are encouraged to verify their flight statuses before heading out.
