Princeton Hockey Stars Shine: Celebrating On-Ice Excellence and Achievements

The Princeton Posse junior hockey team has some exciting news! Several players recently received awards for their outstanding performances on the ice.

Tyson Horiachka was named the most valuable player. As the team captain from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Tyson played an average of 17 minutes and 30 seconds each game. Over 41 games, he scored 20 goals and assisted with 29, totaling 49 points. This is an improvement from last season when he recorded 45 points. Remarkably, this is the third year in a row that his scoring has gone up.

Out of his 49 points this season, 15 came from power plays, and he scored four game-winning goals. Beyond his scoring ability, Tyson has been a great leader, helping rookies learn how to navigate both the game and team dynamics.

Another standout, Matthew Langdon, also from Sherwood Park, was recognized as the top scorer. He led the league with 35 goals in just 41 games, averaging 18 minutes and 41 seconds of ice time. His highlight was a six-game goal streak, during which he scored 12 goals, the longest of the season. He found the net in 21 out of his 41 games and was named the top forward in both September and October.

Grady Sterling-Ponech, hailing from Lethbridge, Alberta, earned the title of top defenseman. He set a new career high with 39 points in 44 games and averaged 22 minutes and 16 seconds on the ice. Grady ranked fifth among all defensemen in the league and was fourth in assists with 32. He led all defensemen in power play points, contributing 23 points, and helped with 21 power play assists. He received top defense honors multiple times throughout the season.

Overall, the Posse had an impressive season with 33 wins, 7 losses, 3 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss across 44 games. They finished first in the Bill Ohlhausen Division and secured the second spot overall in the league during regular season play.
