Boston University Dominates Patriot League Softball Honors
Boston University had a stellar week in softball, sweeping all three weekly awards from the Patriot League.
Player of the Week: Kylie Doherty, a junior outfielder, shone bright. She hit an impressive .563, racked up 11 RBIs, and scored 11 runs. With a .667 on-base percentage, her strong performance was key to the Terriers’ flawless 6-0 week. Notably, she blasted a two-run homer and added five RBIs in a single game against UMass Lowell.
Pitcher of the Week: Kasey Ricard, a senior pitcher, earned this title for a third time this season. She posted a perfect 4-0 record with a remarkable 0.00 ERA. In 24 innings, she struck out 25 batters while allowing just 10 hits and three walks. Ricard has set a Boston University program record with 86 career wins and surpassed 800 career strikeouts.
Rookie of the Week: Irys Kline, a freshman outfielder, also had a standout week. With a .500 batting average, Kline pulled together five RBIs and four runs scored while maintaining a .684 on-base percentage. She quickly made her mark with a triple and multiple RBIs during the games.
Several other players received honorable mentions, including Kelly Fricker from Lehigh and Caitlyn Newburn from Army West Point, who also made significant contributions to their teams.
