Pune’s Deepali Amrutkar Triumphs in Thailand Pageant
Pune’s Deepali Amrutkar-Tandale turned heads at the recent Miss and Mrs Heritage International-2025 pageant in Thailand. Balancing her job in IT, motherhood, and daily life left her little time for personal passions. However, a friend’s suggestion during Ganesh Chaturthi sparked her interest in the competition, leading to an unexpected and delightful victory.
Deepali showcased the richness of Indian culture, earning the title of ‘Mrs Gold Heritage International Universe.’ She believes her strong connection to India’s heritage played a crucial role. “Through this platform, I highlighted our art and culture, which helped me win this award,” she shared.
Living in Pimple Gurav in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Deepali manages a busy lifestyle. “Juggling work, being a mom, and supporting my family is a challenge, but I find joy in it,” she said after returning from the event.
The pageant featured 40 competitors from 25 countries across different categories, including kids, Miss, and Mrs. Deepali leveraged her IT skills to create a compelling presentation. “I put together a video that captured the diversity of Indian culture from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. It wasn’t a typical fashion show; it was a celebration of heritage,” she explained.
The idea to join the pageant first came to her when a friend talked about it during Ganesh Chaturthi. Her curiosity piqued, Deepali decided to enter. “Participating felt like a journey, and winning was deeply satisfying,” she reflected.
Her presentation focused on unity and peace, which she felt was vital given the global nature of the event. Each contestant aimed to showcase their nation’s unique aspects while promoting a message of togetherness. Deepali wore a traditional nine-yard saree to represent Maharashtra and incorporated elements from various cultures, singing bhajans and displaying different regional outfits. “The audience’s applause filled me with pride for my heritage,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Deepali described the experience as unique and transformative. “It taught me a lot about myself and made me feel honored to represent my country,” she noted.
This victory reflects a growing trend where more Indian women are stepping into global platforms, shining a light on their heritage while breaking barriers. According to a recent survey by the International Federation of Beauty Pageants, the number of contestants representing diverse cultures has increased by 30% in the last five years, highlighting a shift toward celebrating inclusivity and cultural representation.
