Queens is buzzing with excitement as two of its beloved food festivals vie for USA Today’s Best City Food Festival award. The clock is ticking for food lovers to cast their votes.
The Queens Night Market and EEEEEATSCON New York are both in the running, highlighting the borough’s vibrant culinary scene. Voting ends on March 3 at noon ET, so there’s still time to show your support.
Organized by USA Today’s 10Best, this contest features food festivals from across the country. A panel of culinary experts has selected the nominees, but it’s up to the public to choose the winner. This recognition showcases Queens’ status as a food destination.
Queens Night Market: A Feast of Diversity
Launching its 10th season this April, Queens Night Market is a Saturday evening open-air celebration at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Known for its affordable prices, all food items are between $5 and $6, making it easy for everyone to enjoy a wide variety of dishes.
Here, you’ll find food from over 90 countries, served by local small businesses. The event also features live performances, local artists, and crafts. Founder John Wang started the market in 2015 to celebrate Queens’ cultural diversity and support independent food vendors.
“Many restaurants in Queens are family-owned, often by immigrant families offering their heritage through food,” Wang has said. The market has turned into a community staple, attracting visitors each weekend. The 2024 season kicks off on April 13 and continues every Saturday until October 26.
EEEEEATSCON New York: A Trendy Culinary Experience
Every year, EEEEEATSCON New York takes place at Forest Hills Stadium, bringing together top chefs, influencers, and food fans. Organized by The Infatuation, this festival showcases popular food trends and offers unique dining experiences.
Unlike traditional food festivals, EEEEEATSCON puts a spotlight on innovation with exclusive food collaborations and discussions with industry leaders. Attendees can enjoy pop-ups from local restaurants and taste trendy dishes from influential chefs and culinary creators.
This year, EEEEEATSCON will be held in October, drawing food lovers from all over.
Queens’ culinary reputation is reinforced by recent accolades, such as Astoria’s Tootles & French being named Best New Restaurant in the U.S. by USA Today.
With two festivals nominated for Best City Food Festival, a victory would underscore Queens’ impact on the national food scene.
Remember, voting for USA Today’s Best City Food Festival ends on March 3 at noon ET. You can vote daily for both Queens Night Market and EEEEEATSCON New York. The top 10 winners will be revealed on March 12.
