Raleigh Police Safely Recover Two Missing Children and Arrest Suspects in Dramatic Carjacking Case

A recent carjacking in Raleigh has led to the arrest of two individuals. Mateo Medina, 23, and Chardazha Alston, 23, were taken into custody after allegedly attacking a woman in a Food Lion parking lot. The incident occurred on Thursday when the suspects stole the victim’s black Mazda.

Interestingly, two young children were inside the vehicle at the time. One was the victim’s 11-year-old daughter, who is autistic and nonverbal. The other was a 4-year-old child related to one of the suspects. Police believe this event stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Officers located the stolen Mazda at Duke Raleigh Hospital. Thankfully, the children were found unharmed and were safely reunited with their mother.

Both suspects now face serious charges, including first-degree kidnapping and larceny of a motor vehicle. Medina is being held without bond, while Alston has a bond set at $5,000. They are expected to appear in court soon.
