He wants the team’s identity to revolve around creating turnovers.

Recent data backs up Humphrey’s point. In the 2022 NFL season, teams that led in takeaways (interceptions and fumble recoveries) had a 67% chance of winning their games. This statistic shows how critical it is for a defense to force turnovers.
