Gurugram University (GU) is seeing an exciting rise in undergraduate admissions for the upcoming 2024-25 session. This year, six students are competing for every seat, double the competition from last year when only three students vied for each spot. The first merit list will be issued on July 8, with document verification on July 9, and fee submission by July 10.
This surge is reflected in the numbers. GU received 2,996 applications for just 450 seats in its ten undergraduate programs, compared to 1,350 applications for 410 seats last year. Many students are particularly drawn to professional and integrated courses. Top choices among applicants include:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT): 600 applications for 60 seats
- MBA (Integrated): 365 applications for 60 seats
- LLB: 492 applications for 60 seats
- BA (Yoga): 165 applications for 30 seats
- BCA (Computer Applications): 178 applications for 60 seats
- MCom (Integrated): 295 applications for 60 seats
Students have increasingly favored these fields, perhaps reflecting a wider trend in education toward skills that promise job opportunities.
GU Vice Chancellor Sanjay Kaushik noted that the competition is fierce this year. More than five students per seat will likely lead to higher merit rankings. The university aims to provide 100% placement for its students, a priority that underscores its commitment to quality education.
The second merit list is set to come out on July 11, with additional document verification and fee submission from July 12 to 14. This strong interest in GU courses points to a broader shift in educational preferences among students, emphasizing the demand for practical skills and career readiness.
