For now, Oviedo will be sidelined for at least 12 days. It’s worth noting that he previously missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery.
Tyler Uberstine, now at 26, is stepping into the spotlight. He was added to the Red Sox’ 40-man roster last November. Last season, he pitched well, managing a 3.58 ERA over 120 innings in the minors and showcasing his ability with a strikeout rate of nearly 27%.
His journey to the majors is inspiring. Uberstine faced rejection multiple times in his career, including being overlooked by his college team at USC. He eventually found his way to Northwestern and was picked by the Red Sox in the 19th round of the draft. His determination is noteworthy and a reminder that every player’s path is unique.
