Boston Red Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks recently shared a troubling experience on Instagram. He and his wife have received death threats, which he called "horrible and cruel." Hendriks urged people to reflect on their actions, especially those hiding behind fake accounts. He emphasized how hurtful comments, especially those wishing harm or death, are unacceptable.

Before sharing this on social media, Hendriks had expressed frustration about his playing role, which may have drawn negative attention. The rainout of a game against the Baltimore Orioles came right after his post.

At 36 years old, Hendriks joined the Red Sox before the 2024 season. He had major surgery last year and made his return to the mound in April. However, he has struggled in his comeback, with a 5.56 ERA over 11 ⅓ innings, a stark contrast to his impressive performance from 2019 to 2023, where he had a 2.26 ERA.

In addition to being a three-time All-Star, Hendriks is also a cancer survivor, adding to the weight of his comments about threats against him and his family.
