Redding Rancheria Set to Launch 0 Million Health Village: A New Era of Wellness and Care

The Redding Rancheria is gearing up for a major project: a $230 million health village. This initiative has been in the planning stages since 2019, but it’s been a dream for many years.

“The American healthcare system often leaves our people behind. Native Americans face unique health challenges. With this health village, we aim to change that,” said Glenn Hayward, Executive Director of Health Services for the Redding Rancheria.

This new health village will blend various medical practices, including Western, Eastern, and Chinese medicine. It’s designed to focus on overall wellness, featuring indoor and outdoor pools, fitness areas, yoga studios, and a spa. The goal is to promote health proactively instead of reacting to illness.

Hayward pointed out the urgency for this project, revealing that the average lifespan for tribe members is just 52 years. The facility is set to become the largest tribal health center west of the Mississippi, merging advanced medical technology with natural settings and cultural traditions.

Spanning 190,000 square feet, the health village will be located near Win-River Resort & Casino. Construction kicks off on March 17 and is expected to wrap up in about 22 months.
