RedHawks Shine at MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship
This past Friday at Ball State University, the RedHawks showcased their talent at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The Miami women’s team is currently in second place with 41 points, while the men’s team also holds second place with 70 points.
Highlights from the Day
In the 3K steeplechase, Petros Sanchez Ropero took home the MAC championship title, while teammates Anton Martinez and Tom Heal followed closely, taking second and third place, respectively. Their impressive times—8:45.20, 8:47.22, and 8:47.85—rank among the top performances in Miami’s history.
Several athletes made significant contributions:
- In hammer throw, Gabe Asbury secured fourth place with a throw of 58.05 meters. Ben Riegel and Blake Presley also earned points, finishing sixth and eighth, respectively.
- Kirk Knecht added two points in the long jump, landing at 6.84 meters.
- In women’s shot put, Kate Hallie’s throw of 14.65 meters earned her a fourth-place finish and valuable points for the team.
On the track, the RedHawks had multiple entrants qualify for finals across various events, including:
- Broderick Brittle in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.89.
- Joey Valeski secured a spot in the finals of the 400m with a swift 48.40 run.
- Rondale Carridine and Camryn Dunn also qualified in the 100m dash, showcasing their speed and skill.
In the women’s 3K steeplechase, Linda Conchetto and Monica Guijarro scored points, finishing third and eighth, respectively.
