Porbandar: The Indian Navy’s INSV Kaundinya has set off on its first international journey, sailing from Porbandar, Gujarat, to Muscat, Oman. This voyage is not just a trip; it symbolizes India’s effort to revive its maritime heritage. The ship, built with traditional stitched techniques, showcases craftsmanship and knowledge passed down through generations.

During the launch, Vice-Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Commander of the Western Naval Command, and the Omani Ambassador, Issa Saleh Al Shibani, celebrated this momentous occasion. INSV Kaundinya is a tribute to ancient Indian shipbuilding, reflecting the skills that have shaped India’s maritime history.

Measuring 65 feet, the vessel will carry 18 sailors across 1,400 kilometers of ocean, expected to reach Oman in about 15 days. This route echoes the past, linking India and Oman for trade and cultural exchange throughout history.
