LACEY, Wash. – The Nanooks women’s basketball team faced a tough challenge on Thursday, losing to the Saint Martin’s Saints 64-55. This marks their record at 6-19 for the season, with a GNAC record of 1-16.

Game Summary

The game started rocky for the Nanooks, quickly finding themselves down 10-3. However, Destiny Reimers sparked a comeback with a three-pointer and a layup, narrowing the gap to 12-9. Amelia Brady chipped in with another layup, bringing them to 14-14 just before the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately, Saint Martin’s snatched a quick lead with a layup to close the quarter at 16-14.

In the second quarter, Miranda Lomax began by scoring with a floater, keeping the game tight early on. Bobbi Clark answered back for the Nanooks, but the Saints then surged ahead with a 6-0 run, stretching their lead to nine points with just under six minutes left in the half. Scoring slowed for both teams until Lomax hit a jumper, followed by two layups from Brady, which helped narrow the score to 29-24. However, the Saints finished the half strong, including a buzzer-beater three-pointer from Jada Travis that put Alaska down by 10 at halftime.

Reimers and Brady opened the third quarter with a scoring spree, making the game just a two-possession affair. They continued their strong performance, leading to a closer score of 42-40 as the quarter ticked down. But Saint Martin’s responded with an eight-point run to close the quarter ahead by 10 points.

The fourth quarter began with a jumper from Saint Martin’s, but the Nanooks quickly countered with layups from Reimers and Brady. Despite some back-and-forth scoring, Alaska’s offense struggled late in the game. They only managed two more points, ending the game with a final score of 64-55.
