Remembering Alex Duong: Celebrated Comedian and Actor Passes Away at 42

Alex Duong, a talented comedian known for his roles on “Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle” and “Blue Bloods,” has sadly passed away at the age of 42. He lost his battle with cancer after a tough year-long fight.

His close friend, Hilarie Steele, shared that Alex fell into septic shock on a Friday night and passed away the following morning at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California. He was surrounded by family and friends during his final moments.

Last year, Alex was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, after suffering from severe headaches. Doctors described the tumor as extremely aggressive, leading to significant changes in his life, including wearing an eye patch throughout his treatment.

In a show of support for Alex, many comedians, including Ronny Chieng and Atsuko Okatsuka, gathered for “The Alex Duong Has Cancer In His Eye Comedy Benefit Show” last August at Largo in Los Angeles. This event raised awareness and funds for his treatment.

In addition, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to support his journey to regain his sight and to assist his young daughter, Everest, and wife, Cristina, during this difficult time.

Alex’s passing is a reminder of how fragile life can be, especially when faced with serious health issues. His kind spirit and humor will be deeply missed.

As we remember Alex, it’s worth noting that cancer rates have been on the rise, with about 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women developing cancer in their lifetimes, according to the American Cancer Society. Increasing awareness, early detection, and support for those affected are vital in the fight against this disease.

RIP, Alex.
