Betsy Arakawa, a talented classical musician and small-business owner, was found dead at her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, alongside her husband, actor Gene Hackman. She was just 65 years old. He wrote his first drafts by hand while Betsy typed them, offering her thoughts on characters and plot along the way. A long-time friend, Barbara Lenihan, highlighted how integral Betsy was to Hackman’s creative journey, stating, “She was very involved with what he did. She made it very possible for him to do it.”
