Rep. Cory Mills Responds to Assault Allegations Amid Ongoing Police Investigation

First on Fox: Rep. Cory Mills from Florida is facing an investigation over an alleged assault that occurred in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. He has firmly denied any wrongdoing.

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a call about the incident at his home on Maryland Avenue around 1:15 p.m. This investigation is still ongoing, and the MPD has not released additional details about what transpired.

A spokesperson for Mills emphasized that the Congressman is confident the investigation will clear him of any allegations. “This week, law enforcement was asked to resolve a private matter at Congressman Mills’ residence,” the spokesperson stated. “Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing whatsoever.”

MPD has launched a review of their response to this incident to ensure proper procedures were followed. Their Internal Affairs Bureau is currently looking into the matter.

During a press briefing, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed she is aware of the situation and noted there is an internal investigation regarding the police response. She added, “I can confirm that there is an internal investigation on making sure that all of our members did what they were supposed to do, according to MPD policy.”

Rep. Mills has represented Florida’s 7th District since January 2023. He also holds a position on the House Armed Services Committee. Before his political career, he served in Iraq and earned the Bronze Star Medal for his service.
