US skiing star Lindsey Vonn is determined to chase her dream of competing in her fifth Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina 2026.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Vonn shared her commitment: “I’m not going to give up. I believe in myself, and with hard work, I will get to where I dream of going.”
This announcement follows her recent return to the World Alpine Skiing Championships after six years away. Unfortunately, her results in Saalbach weren’t what she hoped for. She placed 15th in the downhill, 16th in the team combined, and skied out early in the super-G event.
At 40 years old, Vonn is working hard to return to her previous form after a partial knee reconstruction. In her post, she opened up about the challenges she’s faced. “These past few weeks have been tough. I love skiing, and that’s why I came back. But there have been so many negative voices,” she wrote, addressing critics who doubt her abilities because of her age and past injuries. “I know they are only a few voices out of many… but it still hurts. I try to be strong, but I’m not always strong. I am human.”
She also acknowledged her imperfections, saying, “I wish I could have done better, but I didn’t. I did my best with what I had. I care deeply, which is why my emotions can sometimes overwhelm me.”
Vonn will have more chances to compete in the upcoming 2024/25 season, with events lined up at the FIS World Cup in Kvitfjell, Norway, and the FIS Ski World Cup Finals in Sun Valley, Utah. She remains focused on her goal and determined to push beyond her limits.
