Revitalize Your Wellbeing: Join Our Engaging Lunch and Learn Series on Vision, Heart, and Sleep Health!

ALPENA — MyMichigan Health Foundation is launching a new series called Take Time for You Lunch and Learn, right here in Alpena. This program features local doctors discussing important health topics. It’s a great way to learn while enjoying lunch. The sessions will be held in the Medical Center’s Auditorium this spring. Each session costs $10, or you can sign up for all three for $25.

The series kicks off on March 19 at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Bob Currier, an ophthalmologist, who will talk about vision health. Did you know that around 12 million people over 40 in the U.S. have vision problems? Many of these issues can be prevented with early diagnosis. Dr. Currier will cover common eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts, and share tips on how to maintain good eye health.

Next, on March 26 at noon, Dr. Daniel Harber, a cardiologist, along with cardiac manager Renee Lamp, will host a session called Cardio Compass. Heart disease has been the top cause of death in the U.S. for over a century. Surprisingly, more than half of adults don’t realize how common it is. In this session, participants will learn about various heart conditions, including atrial fibrillation, and the services available at the Medical Center to maintain heart health.

The final program will be held on April 9 at noon, led by pulmonologist Dr. Daniel Maxwell. He will present on Sleep Soundly, Live Well. Sleep apnea is a serious condition that can disrupt breathing during sleep and may lead to other health issues if untreated. Dr. Maxwell will discuss the symptoms of sleep apnea, how it can affect daily life, and what treatment options are available.

Be sure to register in advance by calling 989-356-7351 or emailing molly.signs-schindler@mymichigan.org.

Join us for these informative sessions and take a step towards better health!
