The goal of this partnership is to offer an eco-friendly solution to single-use plastics. The new packaging can handle extreme temperatures while securely containing food. It is made from agricultural waste materials such as sugarcane bagasse, eucalyptus wood fibers, and banana leaves, which enhances its sustainability.

W-Cycle’s unique material, called SupraPulp, is both oil- and water-resistant. It can withstand temperatures from -40°C to 220°C. This makes it perfect for everything from freezer storage to oven use, eliminating the need for plastic coatings.

Valued at at least $3.45 million, this collaboration will harness Melhoramentos’ renewable forestry resources along with W-Cycle’s expertise in packaging. Together, they aim to tackle the significant issue of plastic waste in the environment.

According to W-Cycle’s CEO, Isaac Rome, this partnership can lead to “impactful, high-end affordable packaging solutions.” He emphasizes that their ecological packaging allows food manufacturers to move away from traditional plastic, making it easier to create durable containers suitable for various cooking methods.

W-Cycle has already begun partnering with catering companies and ready-meal producers to help them shift from conventional plastic containers to this innovative packaging solution.
