Oshkosh Defense, part of Oshkosh Corporation, recently secured a $29.9 million contract to enhance the Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires) with cutting-edge autonomous technology. Deliveries for this project are set to start in 2025. This modification from the Marine Corps Systems Command demonstrates Oshkosh’s dedication to providing advanced solutions that support the Marine Corps’ mission to control important maritime areas. They will collaborate with Forterra, a partner specialized in ground-based autonomy.

ROGUE-Fires will boost the Marine Corps’ capabilities to deny enemy access to the sea, helping them dominate multiple areas against adversaries. Its advanced self-driving features offer the Marines greater flexibility and resilience in challenging conditions. By decreasing reliance on human drivers in dangerous combat zones, ROGUE-Fires significantly improves battlefield effectiveness, which is vital for operations in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command.
“With our strong partnership with the Marine Corps and support from industry leaders like Forterra, Oshkosh Defense is dedicated to providing the U.S. Marine Corps with innovative solutions that ensure superiority on all fronts,” said Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “ROGUE-Fires enhances mission flexibility and effectiveness while supporting the Marines’ modernization goals, including improved sea denial and innovative force designs to tackle new threats.”
This contract highlights the strategic alliance between Oshkosh Defense and Forterra, focusing on integrating advanced autonomous technology into existing systems. This partnership aims for seamless cooperation while helping achieve the objectives of Force Design 2030. It shows Oshkosh’s commitment to providing Marines with innovative tools to address emerging threats and ensure success in tough environments.
