Ant Group’s healthcare app, AQ, just got a major update at the 2025 Inclusion Conference in Shanghai. This app aims to make healthcare easier to access for everyone. Launched in June after testing since September 2024, AQ has already attracted 140 million users, with a significant portion—60%—coming from smaller cities.
Cyril Han, CEO of Ant Group, expressed hopes that AI could help doctors reach more patients. He believes it will allow them more time for research and tackling complex diseases while supporting community doctors with strong AI tools.
The app features over 100 AI-powered services. Users can get personalized health advice, connect with doctors, and have their medical reports analyzed. It links users to more than 5,000 hospitals and provides online consultations with 200,000 medical professionals.
Notable physicians from respected institutions, like Jian’an Wang and Jun Wang, have developed their own AI Doctor Agents on AQ. This feature allows doctors to create custom AI tools to assist community healthcare providers and enhance patient services. For example, a recent study showed that an AI agent for urology increased diagnostic accuracy among community doctors by 4% to 8%.
In a bid to support senior citizens, AQ has partnered with China Mobile to offer a hotline that can be accessed via voice commands. The app now consolidates personal health data into a single, easy-to-read format. It also integrates with devices for managing chronic diseases and various wearable tech.
A new feature allows users to take a photo to identify over 50 skin conditions. This can help provide quick and timely guidance, which is especially critical for those who may not have easy access to a doctor.
The updates emphasize AQ’s role in making healthcare more inclusive in China. By leveraging AI, the app not only boosts access but also aims to improve the quality of healthcare services.
