TransCore’s tolling technology is now operational in West Virginia, providing drivers with a toll-by-plate payment option, enhanced E-ZPass services, and updated digital signage.

NASHVILLE, TENN., 16 January 2025 – TransCore has launched its advanced Infinity tolling technology on the West Virginia Turnpike. This upgrade supports the West Virginia Parkways Authority’s (WVPA) goal to improve the travel experience and increase the efficiency of the roads. The new system includes updated E-ZPass technology and a toll-by-plate option at all four toll plazas.
Since 2008, WVPA and TransCore have worked together to create a tolling system that allows both cash and E-ZPass payments. Over time, the increase in electronic toll transactions shows that both drivers and the agency prefer the speed and convenience of electronic payments.
To enhance the tolling experience, WVPA tasked TransCore with designing a new system that would speed up processing times and handle the growing number of electronic transactions. With the toll-by-plate option now available, drivers can pass through tolls quickly and pay later online.
Jeff Miller, WVPA’s Executive Director, shared, “This upgrade is essential for our future operations. While E-ZPass remains the fastest choice, the toll-by-plate option gives travelers another easy way to pay.” He added that both the back-end system and lane technology improvements are designed to make travel easier for motorists.
Whitt Hall, President and CEO of TransCore, expressed excitement about the long-standing partnership with WVPA. “Together, we’ve implemented a system that enhances the tolling experience and makes it easier for drivers to pay their tolls,” he stated.
In September 2024, WVPA also introduced TransCore’s new Integrity back-office system. This upgrade lets drivers manage their accounts more flexibly and provides self-service payment options.
