Riverview Health Foundation’s Wine, Women & Whiffs Golf Tournament: A Fun-Filled Day That Raises Over $25,000 for a Great Cause!

Riverview Health Foundation recently hosted the Wine, Women and Whiffs Golf Tournament at Purgatory Golf Club, raising over $25,000. This women-only golf event was designed to fund new, advanced equipment for Riverview Health, helping improve care for those facing breast cancer.

With over 100 golfers and 10 volunteers participating, the tournament also aimed to raise awareness and foster community support. Megan Wiles, Vice President of Foundation and Community Affairs, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “We love hosting this event to support projects focused on women and children.” This year, funds will partially assist women navigating breast cancer, along with ongoing support for The Milk Bank, which provides donor milk.

Exciting news is on the horizon for Riverview Health. They will soon welcome two new breast surgeons, and the Foundation is investing in technology to ensure they can provide the best care possible for all patients.

Polly Craig, Philanthropy Officer at Riverview Health Foundation, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. “It is a fun way to gather women and raise awareness for breast cancer patients,” she said.

Local businesses and sponsors, including American Structurepoint and Indiana Members Credit Union, were instrumental in making the event a success. Their involvement showcases the power of community in supporting health initiatives.

According to recent statistics, breast cancer has affected a growing number of women yearly. The American Cancer Society reports that in 2023, about 297,790 new cases are expected in the U.S. alone. Events like this play a crucial role in combating these statistics through funding and support systems.
