Rizwana Remembers Rahatun Nesa: A Heartfelt Tribute to the Environment Secretary’s Late Mother

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the Environment, Forest, and Climate Adviser, expressed her heartfelt condolences today following the passing of Rahatun Nesa, the mother of Dr. Farhina Ahmed, the ministry’s secretary. She was 91 years old.

Rahatun Nesa died this morning at the Government Employees Hospital in Dhaka, where she had been receiving treatment for age-related health issues. Rizwana shared prayers for Rahatun’s soul and offered support to her family during this difficult time. Rahatun is survived by one son, six daughters, and many friends and relatives.

The first funeral prayer (Namaj-e-Janaza) will take place today after Zuhr prayer at the Secretary Quarter. A second prayer will follow after Asr at Kazifuri Jame Mosque in Mirpur-1. She will be laid to rest at the Mirpur Shaheed Buddhijibi graveyard afterward.

This moment serves as a reminder of the importance of family and community support during times of loss. As we reflect on Rahatun Nesa’s life, we can see a pattern of dedication to family, a value often celebrated in various cultures. This unity is crucial in overcoming grief.

Statistics show that strong community ties can significantly help in coping with loss. A recent survey found that individuals with solid support networks fare better emotionally during bereavement. This highlights the value of connection and empathy during challenging times.

In a world where health issues are prevalent among the elderly, Rahatun’s case brings attention to the need for better healthcare services for aging populations. According to a recent World Health Organization report, many older people struggle with similar health issues due to inadequate healthcare access. Advocating for better policies could lead to improvements for others facing similar challenges.

As Rahatun Nesa’s family prepares for her farewell, they welcome prayers and thoughts from all who knew her, reflecting the many ways life touches us and how we can honor those we’ve lost.
