Scotland Looks for Its Next Top Woman Curler
Robyn Munro has a dream. She wants to compete at the Olympic Winter Games, and she’s determined to make it happen soon. Transitioning from junior to senior curling, she has teamed up again with her former junior skip, Fay Henderson, in hopes of achieving this goal together.
While the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics might be a little soon for them, they’re not backing down. They’re already preparing for future competitions, including the 2030 French Alps Games. This duo aims to represent Great Britain on the international stage.
Of course, standing out in international curling isn’t easy. They’ll be following in the footsteps of legendary Scottish curlers like Rhona Martin and Eve Muirhead.
Rhona Martin made history in 2002 at the Salt Lake City Olympics. She shocked everyone by winning gold, and her win sparked a wave of success for Scottish teams in curling.
Eve Muirhead continued this proud tradition. With over ten years on top, she had an impressive career. Muirhead not only dominated at the national level but also excelled internationally, winning the 2013 World Women’s Curling Championship, the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Championship, and three European championships.
Her biggest achievement came at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where she finally claimed her first gold medal after three previous attempts.
After Muirhead’s retirement in the summer of 2022, there is a spotlight on the next female curler to make her mark. Robyn Munro hopes to be that athlete, ready to carry the torch for Scotland.
