AUSTIN, Texas — Rooster Teeth, the popular media company from Austin, is reopening after being closed for nine months. The founder, Burnie Burns, has reclaimed ownership of the company.

Burns expressed his excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to face the challenge of bringing Rooster Teeth back to its roots. The heart of this brand has always been its fans, and I’m eager to start a new chapter with you.”
Founded in 2003, Rooster Teeth became famous with its web series, Red vs. Blue, which is one of the longest-running shows online. This success helped the company grow into a multimedia powerhouse.
After the reopening, Rooster Teeth will be integrated into Burns’ other venture, Box Canyon Productions. Before shutting down, the previous general manager, Jordan Levin, noted that the company faced various challenges in the digital media landscape, including shifts in consumer habits and changes in how content is monetized.
Throughout its history, Rooster Teeth has created engaging gameplay videos and animated content. The company originally thrived under the umbrella of Warner Bros. Discovery, leveraging subscriptions, ads, e-commerce, and live events to build a thriving fanbase.
As Rooster Teeth revives its operations, fans can look forward to exciting new projects and a return to the community spirit that made it special.
